It can be found here:

http://www2.spaceclaim.com/stream/video.aspx?v=drawing_intro.flv

Also,to drop trailing zeros in dimensions, this can be done by selecting the dimension and in properties>precision, you will be able to set the number of decimal places you desire. All the other options such as units and annotations can be set under SpaceClaim Options > Detailing.

Hope this helps

Best,

Sasi

Re: Formats and multiple drawings

I totally agree with Martin on this. It would be very convenient if you could use different sheet sizes/drawing formats in one file. We do everything internally as long as we're developing concepts. Making drawings can be a real pain, because now all the part have to be made on the same size. We've got the rule to do it all on A3 now, but that means that a complete assembly must be made on A3, but also a small special screw or washer will be made on A3 now.

And once I've got my set of drawing, I want to save them as PDF to have a copy. That's how I keep my revision history. But when I save to PDF, it saves a 3D file, and not the drawing. And I can't select an option to save 2D somewhere.

So I have to print to PDF instead. Not a big problem, but less quick.

I hope the next release of spaceclaim will support multiple drawing sizes in one file!

Regards,

Tijs

Keep drawings attached to internal components when copying to a different file

A problem I run into frequently when I'm developing concepts, is that I want to copy a component (with a drawing) from one file to the other, but that it only copies the component, and not the drawing that I already made of it.

Here at our office we have some rules concerning modelling in Spaceclaim. We're very fond of the fact that you can create one file with all the components and drawings internally embedded. As long as we are working on concepts, we do everything internally. Once a concept is finished and it becomes a real design, we switch everything to external. This way it is easy to develop different concept without having to worry if you're accidently changing a part that's also used in another concept. It generate only one file per concept and it keeps the server tidy.

But the problem we're facing is that we make the drawings of parts internally too. So far no problem, but if you made a nice drawing of a part and you want to use it in one of your other concepts too, we don't no how to keep the drawing attached to the part. You can copy/paste a component to another file without any problem, but transferring the drawing of that part at the same time seems not to be possible.

Is there another way to do it, without making components external? Or would this be a nice enhancement?

Regards,
